Geocaching is captivating hikers and outdoor junkies nationwide. If you haven’t heard of it, a small cache of objects is hidden on public land and the goal is to find the cache, record your visit, and add something to it. To find a geocache in your area, go to www.geocaching.com and enter a Zip Code. That, in turn, brings up GPS coordinates for nearby caches. Anyone with a hand-held GPS unit can locate a geocache. There are nearly 1 million geocaches in the USA and the MMS is currently working on creating new caches of geological significance in the Detroit area. Stay tuned!
