Visiting the Gem, Mineral and Fossil Show

I was invited to attend the 72nd Annual Greater Detroit Gem, Mineral and Fossil Show at the Macomb Community College Expo Hall. I honestly had no idea what to expect. I was more than overwhelmed with the quality of the dealers and the lecturers that I heard. The hall was jam packed with buyers. I have to say my favorite dealer was Great Opals from North Carolina. They had rough opals, polished opals and even jewelry with prices that beat any gem retailer in our area. All of their stones come from the Welo area of Ethiopia and they import directly, essentially cutting out the middle man.
